From novice painters to established poets and tik tokkers — we’re a talented bunch at Aspectus.
At the beginning of lockdown, we quickly came up with ways to take our unique, fun and supportive company culture to the digital realm. Weekly competitions became a great way to keep our people connected, take a well-earned break from our to do lists, and show off our talents (or try something new!) whilst stuck at home.
The winner of each weekly comp earns a £50/$50 takeaway voucher for their household and gets to decide the competition for the following week. In true Aspectus style, nothing gets the competitive juices flowing like the promise of food.
The painting and drawing competition inspired us to get creative, and uncovered a surprising number of secret artists among us! Entrants painted furry garden creatures, sketched beloved pets and Claire Wych, Content Director, even submitted a charcoal self-portrait!
It was hard to pick a winner, but Senior Media Strategist, Izzy Dann, took the prize with her stunning painting inspired by a trip to the Welsh coastline.

The following week saw the ‘Great Aspectus Bakeoff’ – a chance for the sweet–toothed amongst us to showcase our baking skills. From the classic Victoria sponge to ginger and walnut cakes and a couple of kitchen failures along the way, the competition was a tough one to judge. Especially as we had to take some judging liberties in imagining how each one tasted, which turns out, is a special kind of torture.
In the end, Ed Wilkins, Design and Development lead, won the coveted prize with this delicious–looking chocolate ganache creation!
Our weekly competitions have kept us connected in a new way during these strange times, reminding us that our bonds with our colleagues go far beyond our work alone. Having fun together, getting stuck in, and empowering everyone to share their ideas and creations is so important to us at Aspectus – it makes for a great working environment, and one which truly has its people at its core.
Thanks to all our entrants so far!
