London, 9th July 2014 – Aspectus today announced that it has appointed Sophie Hodgson as head of technology. Hodgson will focus on rapidly growing and developing the technology team through the acquisition of new business. Prior to joining Aspectus, Hodgson ran her own communications consultancy and was previously a board director at Speed Communications. She has worked on a broad spectrum of clients including Bloxx, Compuware, Informatica, Qinec and Virgin Media Business.
“With many new companies disrupting the landscape and bringing to market new approaches and platforms, the technology sector has a real spring in its step,” says Hodgson. “Perceptions of PR have also changed. Companies want PR to work much harder for them across multiple platforms, and want to work with an agency that helps them to own the topics and issues central to their commercial growth. To do this, agencies have got to cut through the buzzwords and get on with the job at hand. And that is what Aspectus does brilliantly. I’m looking forward to growing the team and contributing to making Aspectus the go to agency for tech.”
A former PR Week 29 under 29, Hodgson started her career at Spark Communications, before joining Rainier PR, which later merged with four other agencies to become Speed Communications in 2009. She brings with her over a decade of experience and, at Speed, oversaw a wide ranging client portfolio that included both B2C and B2B technology brands. She joins three other ‘home grown’ PR week 29 under 29s among the Agency’s senior management.
“Aspectus has built up a formidable reputation in the energy and financial services sector, as well as the technology vendors that support those verticals,” says Alastair Turner, Global Group Director, Aspectus. “Having grown the size of our team significantly, expanding into New York and more recently Singapore, we’ve a strong technology heritage and want to build on that. We are seeing a great deal of interest in our approach that combines media, content and search into one fully integrated PR package. Sophie will be absolutely key to helping us refine our proposition, winning business, and attracting and developing the best talent, as well as building the Aspectus brand.”
Aspectus believes there is a strong space for a different kind of agency: one that isn’t obsessed with time sheets, but instead focuses on delivering success and better still can measure that in a tangible and commercially savvy way. The Agency was founded in 2006 and has offices in London, New York and Singapore. It is also developing a presence in Europe. Aspectus’ clients include major international businesses, FTSE top 250 companies and disruptive start-ups across all of its niche sectors.
