Just two months ago we declared our admiration for LinkedIn’s Events function. “Hidden away under the ‘More’ tab, it’s not immediately obvious to find. However, once you do find it you’ll notice it has great potential from a research and promotional perspective.”

So imagine our dismay upon discovering, from Conference News, that this function is to be shut down this month.

It’s not entirely clear why LinkedIn is scrapping the function, but we assume it is due to a lack of user engagement.

As huge fans of LinkedIn, we recognise its value as a networking, recruitment and research tool and were just as enthusiastic about the Events function, so was its lack of visibility the key to its downfall?
