happy-christmas-imageIt might take more than the natural effect of nostalgia to make people look back on 2009 fondly. There’s no doubt that for many, it’s been a tough year, and that the start of 2010 will not mark the end of that. However, it’s not all been doom and gloom, and some industries are positively booming.

Take energy, for example. This year has been a significant one for a number of our energy clients, with DECC announcing that all homes in the UK will be fitted with smart meters by 2020, based on a report by clients Baringa Partners and Redpoint Energy. Indeed that news was interesting for two of our new clients for 2009, Sentec and Power Plus Communications. This led to the first Aspectus-hosted round table where smart metering and smart grids was the topic under discussion. That’s certainly something we’ll be looking to do again in the new year, perhaps making it available as a video or podcast.

Despite a difficult year in technology all our clients in this sector have performed really well and we were thrilled to expand our tech practice with new clients, DB3 and HID Global and TuneUp.

In the world of financial technology, the effects of the economic turmoil have been driving the news agenda. But also dominating the headlines in the trading world has been the proliferation of new trading venues and the prize for best name of 2009 must surely go to Fidessa, who christened its free market fragmentation calculator ‘The Fragulator’. It’s great to see how well this has been received by the industry – the service not the name, although that’s gone down well too!

For Aspectus PR, 2009 has been a year of growth. We moved to much plusher surroundings in Cavendish Square in August, opened our New York Office earlier this month and have made three new hires to the team.

The start of 2010 looks set to be just as exciting with a new social media project for Maconomy in the pipeline and a PR programme for POWER-GEN Europe and its co-located events which is already under way.

Aspectus PR would like to wish all its clients, both old and new, a very merry Christmas and a happy, prosperous new year.
